Kushla founded Te Whenua Group as an answer to the issues she saw impacting her whanau/family Māori land.

Kushla is passionate about creating a thriving and prosperous Māori economy where everyone has the opportunity to live well.

She has a holistic view of housing that integrates the social, economic and environmental and has a vision to use affordable passive housing as a vehicle to implement large scale renewable energy systems, dignity in work and improved environmental outcomes.

Kushla has a varied background with years in the construction sector, 6 years in renewable energy and is a trained IT specialist, focusing on SAAS, apps and AI/ML. She is a solutions-orientated, evidenced based leader who leads with her heart.
She loves country-living, riding her horse and spending time with her husband and 5 daughters.

Piri-Hira has a strong governance and community experience from serving 12 years on local Council, whanau ora and school boards.
She has strong networks and works directly with Iwi organisations, key Māori stakeholders to foster close working relationships to ensure the projects we execute exceed the high standards we set for our teams.

She is an exceptional relationship-builder, and has a real heart for people.

An efficient operator, like Kushla, is also an ENTJ and has the drive to get things done efficiently.

She has two beautiful tamariki and a wonderful partner.
